*) The Surrey Iyengar Institute was founded by Ruth & John White, who were taught & certified by BKS Iyengar.  During Suzanne’s training period the center was renamed ‘Karuna’.  Although the teachings are completely in the style of BKS Iyengar, with some adaptations made to postures, Iyengar gave his blessing to continue teaching but not to call the center Iyengar. BKS Iyengar is still the President of Karuna Yoga.
